The_Interface

Renegade’s interface is liked and hated, but I think it is great. Some say that it is outdated. I have no comment where that is concerned, but I think it is not to simple yet not too complex and it makes the game play fun. The targeting is a little hard and all the graphics are NOT final so the interface should be even better then the one now or with some improvements. With easy to use menus in the PT’s (Purchase Terminals) and nice smooth graphics for the weapons and objects the interface gets a B in my book. With a few small things this interface looks to please mostly everyone that buys the game. This is a must buy for command and conquer fans don’t ask just buy it and play.

The interface has been thought out so you have very smooth movement and actions. A few small things that kept Renegade from getting an A was that you can not duck jump like you can in TFC and other FPS’s. Another thing that was a little difficult is you need a really clean mouse and you need to aim because the hit boxes are to scale. So fights can take 5 minutes for one to die if you are both good at strafing and jumping, because the high amount of armor and health to the low damage of the guns. Sniping is also less of a skill since they didn’t make a realistic delay between shooting and when the bullets hit the target, since they made it almost instant, unlike the delay in TFC but maybe I am just trained to the old ways.

Westwood has also added some helpful things to the interface such as 30 communication commands for you to use with your team. Also if your one that likes to customize you can bind about any command to any key. Still a lot of options aren’t available because they are blocked from us beta testers. Renegade’s interface looks nice and runs with great performance and is still user friendly.
